With two grades available, the excel specification will include 20” alloy wheels, leather seat upholstery, a panoramic roof and a JBL Premium Sound System. The Premium Excel model adds a head up display, power tailgate with hands free operation, heated rear seats, 360 degree camera and 20” alloys.
The fourth generation full hybrid powertrain features a 2.5
litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine with motors on both the front and rear axles
– the latter delivering the vehicle’s intelligent all wheel drive system. The
motors are powered by a high voltage hydride battery centrally located beneath
the second row seats.
Total system power is 241bhp and the provisional WLTP
combined cycle C02 emissions are 146g/km with 42.8mpg fuel consumption. This
will give the Highlander Hybrid the best balance of power and C02 emissions in
its segment.
